Here is my current reel to showcase my skills across the flame product family with examples of compositing, grading and editing on flame, flare, smoke and lustre. Edited on flame this eye candy reel highlights many of the brilliant campaigns that I have enjoyed working on for numerous agencies, production companies, directors and facilities over the many years that I have been on the tools. Whether as a compositor or editor, lead or assist, supervisor or grader, I can adapt to the task. I hope this film illustrates my versatility, flexibility and experience.
BOOKINGS I can contract in to facilities, production companies or agencies to work on flame on site. Or I can offer a remote studio solution in Berkshire to clients looking to outsource shots, or entire creative projects if required. I am comfortable and experienced with visual effects, editing, grading, beauty work, compositing and motion graphics and have flame 2019 on a high specification workstation with raided drives, an LTO6 archive solution and a 200GB fibre link for remote approvals and asset delivery.
BEGINNINGS I graduated with a Degree in Creative Media and Design, specialising in Graphic Communication and Photography. My career began as a commercials editor cutting commercials before progressing to finishing and effects on Quantel Editbox. Then, as senior 2D lead, I oversaw a facility move to a fully Autodesk workflow in 2000 with the early adoption of smoke to accompany the existing flame, and continued using the evolving flame product family over the next 20 years to present day.
COMMERCIALS I have run teams as a senior 2D lead on large creative projects over the years for brands like Corona and Samsung. I have assisted as flare artist on a large number of vfx heavy projects like Just Eat, Heineken and Motorola. I have a strong reputation for my beauty work on brands like L’Oreal, Garnier, GHD and Maybelline. I have a lot of editorial smoke experience, which means I am strong at versioning and localisation work. This requires good organisation skills, discipline and planning delivering hundreds of spots from a set global masters.
SOCIAL The move towards content delivery alongside standard deliveries requires knowledge of custom formats and specifications. I have worked on numerous campaigns with massive global reach and custom deliveries for all the social platforms.
STOP FRAME Anyone that knows me is well aware of my passion for this genre. I was lead flame artist on all 76 episodes of the 2 times Bafta award winning Aardman series ‘Timmy Time’. I designed the series branding, completed all the visual effects and rig work, conformed, graded, and provided on set shoot supervision throughout the entire production. I have been fortunate to work with some amazing animators and directors on shows Bob The Builder, Rubbadubbers and Pingu over the years and have my own short film in production.
LONG FORM I contributed multiple clean up and visual effects composites for the recent Netflix series The End Of The F**king World and have worked on a number of long form projects for the BBC as well as contributing the entire visual effects, online and grade for two series of the award winning comedy drama ‘Linda Green’ for Granada TV.
TEAM PLAYER I have enjoy identifying, training and developing new talent, a real pleasure of mine. I am a good team player, comfortable with clients and have a fine work ethic. I am just as happy assisting other seasoned flame artists as I am leading a project and consider it a pleasure to continue to develop and learn from other like minded and dedicated artists like myself.
